Flying Eagles head coach Aliyu Zubairu has emphasised the importance of the upcoming WAFU B U‑20 tournament in Ghana as a critical platform to prepare for the FIFA U‑20 World Cup in Chile later this year. As the team reconvened in Abuja, Zubairu acknowledged that their performance in front of goal remains a concern and vowed to address it head-on.
During a training session, he stated, “We are taking proactive measures to ensure that the challenges we encountered previously are addressed, squarely. My assistants and I are very much aware of the issues related to the team’s attacking prowess and we are making concerted efforts to rectify the situation.”
Zubairu added that the WAFU B event featuring Nigeria in a Group A fixture alongside hosts Ghana and Benin Republic, starting 10 July will serve a dual purpose refining strategies and evaluating additional talent in readiness for Chile.
