The Nigeria Football Federation NFF is facing a tough decision over whether to include Maduka Okoye in the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
The Udinese goalkeeper has been out of action since December 7 due to a hand injury, and although he is expected to return this week, there are growing concerns over his fitness and match sharpness.
A source close to the team revealed:
“It’s uncertain if Maduka will make the final squad because he has been inactive for months, and there are off-field concerns as well. The question now is, who should be the backup for Nwabali—Adebayo Adeleye or Amas Obasogie if Okoye is left out?”
The Super Eagles will fly to Rwanda on March 21 before hosting Zimbabwe four days later, in what are now must-win matches after failing to secure victory in their first four group games.
