Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has rewarded seven footballers born in Imo for their roles in Nigeria’s Super Falcons historic 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations triumph, gifting each a cash reward equivalent to ₦70 million. The honour was part of a celebratory reception held at the Governor’s Lodge in Owerri on 29 July 2025.
The celebrated players include goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defender Osinachi Ohale, goalkeeper Tochukwu Oluehi, and outfield stars Jennifer Echegini, Chinwendu Ihezuo, Anam Imo, and Esther Okoronkwo—all Imo natives whose performances were pivotal in Nigeria’s record-extending 10th WAFCON title.
