Bayern Munich Signs Edna Imade, Sends Her on Loan to Real Sociedad

FC Bayern Munich Women have agreed a four‑year deal with Nigerian striker Edna Imade, securing her signature from Liga F side Granada until 30 June 2029. Having impressed with 16 goals in 29 appearances finishing as the Spanish league’s second top scorer she will spend the 2025–26 season on loan at Real Sociedad to continue her development.

Bayern’s women’s director, Bianca Rech, described Imade as “fast, physically strong and versatile in attack”, praising her impressive season in Spain and the decision to loan her out “in consultation with her and those close to her”.

Imade expressed immense pride, saying “I’m incredibly happy and proud to have signed my contract with FC Bayern Women… this step is one of the most important in my career so far… I can be deployed both in the centre and on the wings. I would describe myself as a strong header of the ball and finisher, and I’m also an absolute team player who always gives everything on the pitch”.

Born on 5 October 2000 in Benin City and raised in Spain since childhood, Imade featured at youth clubs including Carmona, Santa Ana, AD Nervión, Málaga, and Cacereño before joining Granada in 2023. She made her top‑flight debut in September 2023 and went on to finish joint second‑top scorer in 2024–25, level with Alexia Putellas at 16 goals.

The loan move to Real Sociedad is viewed as strategic, allowing Imade to adapt to Liga F while gaining regular minutes. Bayern intends to integrate her into their squad upon her return.

Editorial

We see Edna Imade’s transfer to Bayern Munich as a masterstroke in talent acquisition. Her record-breaking season at Granada notably finishing second in scoring with 16 goals highlights her as a genuine goal threat. The decision to loan her to Real Sociedad demonstrates strategic planning, ensuring she gains valuable playing time in a familiar environment before stepping into a Bundesliga powerhouse.

Deploying her centrally or on the wings, Imade ticks essential boxes: aerial strength, finishing ability, and team orientation. We believe her multifaceted skill set will enrich Bayern’s attacking depth and challenge existing forwards.

The loan arrangement also benefits Bayern: by situating her within Spain’s top flight, they reduce adaptation risks and keep her competitive. Meanwhile, Real Sociedad gain a reliable scorer. This synergy exemplifies forward-thinking club management a win for player and clubs alike.

We anticipate that with continued progression, Edna will rejoin Bayern poised to compete for Bundesliga titles and return value on their investment. Our firm belief is that this transfer marks the beginning of a transformative chapter for both the player and Bayern Munich.
