Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar continues to make a strong case for inclusion in Nigeria’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, following his second consecutive match-winning goal for Valencia.
The 28 year old forward struck in the 58th minute to secure a 1-0 victory over Real Valladolid in La Liga, taking his tally to four goals in seven matches since joining on loan from Real Sociedad.
Sadiq’s performance has impressed former UD Almería coach José Gomes, who described him as a hard-working striker with great character and a big heart.
“He has almost everything you look for in a striker. He is an incredibly hard worker, has an identity, and gives his all for the team. He’s a nightmare for defenders and always presses them. I see him doing very well at Valencia,” Gomes stated.
Valencia’s win moves them to 16th place in La Liga, with 27 points from as many games, as they continue their battle for survival.
