Warri Wolves Head Coach Napoleon Aluma has dedicated the club’s return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the Delta State Sports Commission, following their promotion with a thrilling 2–1 win over Crown FC in Asaba on 10 July 2025. The victory capped a dramatic Super 8 playoff campaign after a shaky start, marking their first top-flight comeback since 2021.
Despite early disappointment a 1–0 opening loss to Osun United the Seasiders bounced back convincingly with a 3–0 rout of Kun Khalifat, before sealing promotion with their narrow triumph over Crown FC. Abdulateef Yusuf opened the scoring in the 36th minute, but Crown FC equalised shortly after. Igbunu Evwierhurhoma’s 62nd-minute strike ultimately proved decisive amid heavy rains at Stephen Keshi Stadium.
After the match, Aluma stated, “I dedicate this promotion to our sports-loving Governor, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, … and to the Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Hon. Onoriode Oborevwori, and his entire team. Their support from day one made this dream possible” He also expressed confidence ahead of the Super 8 final against Wikki Tourists, highlighting the chance for redemption after their earlier loss.
