Reading FC Updates Contracts for Three Nigerians, Including Mukairu

Reading Football Club has officially released its list of retained and released players following the conclusion of the 2023-2024 season. Among the key announcements was the decision regarding Nigerian winger Paul Mukairu, who will not be offered a permanent deal and has returned to his parent club FC Copenhagen.

Mukairu, who joined Reading last summer in a bid to secure regular first team football, played a total of 1,839 minutes across 38 appearances in all competitions. Despite his significant involvement, the club has decided not to extend his stay. His current contract with FC Copenhagen runs until December 31, 2025.

In addition to Mukairu, loanees Dom Ballard, Tom Holmes, and Zane Monlouis have also returned to their respective parent clubs following the end of their loan spells at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

On a positive note, Reading has activated one year extension options for Femi Azeez and Kelvin Ehibatiomhan. Femi Azeez, who joined Reading in September 2019 after a successful trial, has been an integral part of the team, featuring in 43 out of 46 third-tier matches this season and contributing to 17 goals 8 goals, 9 assists. Kelvin Ehibatiomhan, hailing from Benin City, scored 12 goals in 48 games during the campaign.
