Nigeria Welcomes Okonkwo After FIFA Clears His Switch to Super Eagles

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has voiced its delight after FIFA approved Arthur Okonkwo’s international allegiance switch from England to Nigeria. Born in England to Nigerian parents, Okonkwo represented England at youth levels turning out for the U15, U16, U17 and U18 sides between 2015 and 2018.

FIFA’s clearance, which came in December, paves the way for the 24 year old goalkeeper to feature for the Super Eagles in upcoming competitions. Dr. Ademola Olajire, NFF Director of Communications, emphasised the importance of Okonkwo’s commitment. “The NFF is always excited to have another good player committing to Nigeria and providing an option in a particular position,” he said.

Olajire added: “Arthur Okonkwo is a prospect and we believe the technical crew is delighted to have another option in the goalkeeping department.”
