Super Falcons forward Gift Monday has been crowned the Liga F Player of the Month for February, following her outstanding performances for UDG Tenerife in Spain’s top-tier women’s league.
The 23 year old Nigerian beat competition from some of the league’s biggest stars, including Real Madrid’s Alba Redondo, Barcelona’s Caroline Graham Hansen, and Deportivo’s Ainhoa Marín, to claim the prestigious award.
Monday becomes only the second Nigerian player to receive the honour, following Rasheedat Ajibade, who won the inaugural edition in September 2024.
The award was presented to her during Tenerife’s training session, with her teammates celebrating the achievement. Liga F announced her recognition on X (formerly Twitter), acknowledging her as the EA Sports FC Player of the Month.
So far this season, Monday has scored 10 goals in 18 matches, helping Tenerife secure sixth place in the Liga F standings. She is currently third in the league’s goal-scoring chart, trailing Barcelona’s Ewa Pajor by five goals and Edna Imade by two.
Having joined Tenerife in 2022 from FC Robo, she recently extended her contract until 2027, marking her commitment to the club.
