FIFA Clears Young Goalkeeper for Super Eagles’ National Duty

In a significant development for Nigerian football, Arthur Okonkwo, a 22 year old goalkeeper formerly part of England’s youth setup, has received FIFA’s nod to switch allegiances and represent the Super Eagles at the senior level. Okonkwo, who has been showcasing his skills on loan at Wrexham from Arsenal, decided to change his national team from England where he had accumulated 11 appearances across various youth levels up to the U18 squad in 2018 to Nigeria.

Before his time in Austria, Okonkwo was loaned to Crewe Alexandria in League Two, where he managed ten clean sheets in 36 games.
