Former Super Eagles forward John Utaka has officially applied to become the next coach of Nigeria’s U20 team, the Flying Eagles. Utaka expressed his interest in the position during a recent radio interview. Currently, he serves as a coach for the U19 team of French Ligue 1 club Montpellier.
Utaka, who enjoyed a successful playing career in both the Premier League and Ligue 1, represented Nigeria in the 2022 World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations AFCON in 2004 and 2006. The Nigerian Football Federation NFF has set a deadline of August 4, 2024, for the submission of applications for the Flying Eagles coaching role.
