Kano Pillars Football Club has officially announced the appointment of former Nasarawa United coach, Evans Ogenyi, as their new Technical Adviser. He signed a oneโyear contract beginning 1 December, aimed at restoring the clubโs former prestige and guiding them back to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Club acting Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, revealed that Ogenyi was selected from a pool of 30 candidates, which included applicants from Mexico, Ghana, Togo, Ivory Coast and other foreign nations. Ogenyi brings coaching experience from clubs including Lobi Stars, Warri Wolves and Enyimba.
At his unveiling at the Kano State Sports Commission office, Ogenyi pledged to do his utmost to rejuvenate Pillars and improve player performances. He appealed for support to aid his mission.
Kano Pillars suffered relegation to the Nationwide League after a poor season. With Ogenyi at the helm, the board expects a swift return to the NPFL and a revival of the clubโs winning culture.

We see the appointment of Evans Ogenyi as a critical moment in Kano Pillarsโ journey back to prominence. By choosing a homeโgrown coach with proven success across Nigeriaโs tiers, the club demonstrates ambition aligned with practical choice.
We welcome his arrival as a bridge between past glory and future hope. Ogenyiโs history with Enyimba, Lobi Stars, Warri Wolves and Nasarawa United indicates he is wellโversed in local dynamics and possesses an ability to galvanise teams.
We consider that selecting Ogenyi from a wide field of international and domestic candidates reflects confidence in local expertise. It suggests Pillars are not merely chasing headlines, but crafting strategy rooted in familiarity with the NPFL landscape.
We believe Ogenyiโs task is formidable. The club must rebuild structure, reโengage fans, and restore performance levels. Yet, with his singleโminded commitment to transformation and track record of handling highโpressure roles, he appears the right figure to lead this renaissance.
We maintain that returning to the NPFL is only the first phase; sustainably competing and reclaiming former honours is the true measure of success. With Ogenyi now entrusted with this vision, we stand firmly behind this alignment of ambition and execution.
