Malumfashi Football Club, based in Katsina, has been officially expelled from the Nigeria National League NNL due to violations of the league’s codified rules and regulations. The club’s expulsion comes as a consequence of failing to appear for two consecutive matches in Conference D of the NNL, specifically against Sokoto United and City FC of Abuja. Additionally, Malumfashi FC did not fulfil their commitment to a rescheduled 45 minute league match against Sokoto United at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna, on February 14, 2024.
Dr Ayo Abdulrahaman, the Chief Operating Officer of the League, cited these absences as a breach of Article 14.7 of the NNL regulations, which has also resulted in a fine of One Million Naira N1,000,000.00 against Malumfashi FC. The league’s decision to invoke Article 14.10 led to the club’s expulsion and the cancellation of all matches previously played by Malumfashi FC, under league rules.
In light of these events, the NNL has requested assistance from the Katsina Football Association to facilitate the recovery of all fines imposed on Malumfashi FC. This includes addressing incidents where referees were forcefully deprived of their belongings during the match against Sokoto United in Malumfashi.
