CAF Confirms: Ndidi Eligible to Feature vs DR Congo Despite Yellow-Card Worries

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has been cleared by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to play in Sunday’s crucial World Cup playoff final against DR Congo, despite fears that accumulated yellow cards could sideline him.

CAF has confirmed that the cautions Ndidi received during the group stages of the qualifiers do not carry over into the playoff round only actual suspensions apply. The Super Eagles’ official statement on X (formerly Twitter) reiterated this point clearly.

Ndidi’s second booking came early in Nigeria’s 4–1 semi-final win over Gabon, and some reports initially believed that would prevent him from playing in the decisive match.  But with CAF’s ruling, he is now available, giving Nigeria a major boost in midfield.
