Enyimba head coach Stanley Eguma has declared his ambition to win the 2025 President Federation Cup after guiding his side to a hard fought 1-0 victory over defending champions El-Kanemi Warriors in the Round of 32. The match, held at the Bwari Stadium in Abuja, saw striker Christian Nnaji net the decisive goal in the 27th minute his first in a long spell for the People’s Elephant.
With the win, Enyimba now set up an Oriental Derby clash with Abakaliki FC in the Round of 16. Speaking after the game, Eguma praised his team’s resilience and Nnaji’s perseverance. “This goal will boost his confidence, and I believe it will inspire him to convert more chances,” Eguma said.
The veteran coach also lauded El-Kanemi Warriors for playing like true champions, describing the match as intense and competitive. Nonetheless, he emphasised Enyimba’s determination to take it one match at a time, with their sights firmly fixed on lifting the prestigious trophy for a fifth time.
Nnaji, who had endured a frustrating spell in front of goal, was visibly overjoyed. “I feel so happy after the long-awaited goal. I just want the fans to keep believing in us—we’ll make them proud,” he said.
