Nigerian international and Nantes winger Moses Simon has been nominated for the prestigious Marc-Vivien Foé Award, which recognises the best African player in the French Ligue 1. The award, named in honour of the late Cameroonian midfielder who tragically passed away during a match in 2003, celebrates outstanding African talent in France’s top flight league.
Simon, 29, has been in fine form for Nantes this season, contributing seven goals and eight assists across 25 league appearances a key figure in the Yellow and Greens’ campaign.
He joins a strong list of nominees for the 2024/25 edition of the award, which includes PSG’s Achraf Hakimi, Amine Gouiri, and Hamed Junior Traoré, among others.
The award has previously been won by two Nigerian goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama in 2013/14, and striker Victor Osimhen in 2019/20, who was also the youngest player ever to receive the honour.
