The Nigeria Football Federation says it is in no hurry to move the Super Eagles’ home matches from Uyo to Lagos. As reported by FootballInNigeria.com.ng, any switch to the Teslim Balogun Stadium will depend on the venue’s readiness and the possible effect of changing the team’s home ground.
The talk of a move began after the Super Eagles’ 3-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau in their AFCON 2027 qualifier on September 29. Nigeria now have three points from two Group L games, with Guinea-Bissau top on six.
A senior NFF official said the federation is not ready to move the team to Lagos or any other venue at the moment. “Lagos is under consideration, but Uyo remains the venue for our games,” he said.
What The NFF Wants First
The federation plans to consult the players before making a final decision. It is also considering friendly matches at the renovated Teslim Balogun Stadium to test the facilities and gauge the fans’ response.
The official said the stadium isn’t yet ready to host an international match. NFF inspectors will visit once the Lagos State Government finishes the renovation work.

The Case For Staying In Uyo
The official noted that the Super Eagles have played most of their home games in Uyo for nearly a decade. Changing a settled home ground, he said, could affect the players’ performance.
That caution has some logic. A team that has just lost 3-0 doesn’t need extra disruption before a double-header, and a sudden move could add pressure on players who are already under scrutiny.

The Calendar Is Tight
The matches in question are a November double-header against Tanzania in Group L. The NFF is considering hosting the first leg in Uyo on November 11, with the return leg in Zanzibar on November 15, though CAF hasn’t confirmed the dates.
Earlier information from the federation had pointed to November 13 and November 17, with the return leg in Dar es Salaam. The final dates and venues will depend on CAF.

With less than a month to go, concerns have been raised over whether there is enough time for inspections and approvals if Lagos is chosen. The NFF will announce the squad five days after the match dates are confirmed.
Head coach Eric Chelle and his technical crew have started monitoring players who could be invited. Their selection will depend on availability and on CAF’s confirmation of the fixtures.
For now, Uyo stays. Lagos will need to prove itself first.
