Speaking at the post-match press conference, Giwa, a former Enyimba player himself, said the 19 year old Ezekiel’s goal, his first of the campaign, could give the youngster real confidence going forward given the stature of the opponent. Giwa, only three years into building the club, admitted few had given his side any chance in Aba after three straight defeats, but said the win offered proof that the young squad can compete and grow from the experience.

The match was played through heavy rainfall that began roughly two hours before kick off, with Giwa jokingly describing the downpour as a “shower of blessing” that worked in his side’s favour.
