Praise For Both Players
BBC Sport noted that Bassey faced an awkward positional test given Manchester United played without a recognised centre forward, but still got forward well enough to help create Fulham’s goal. Iwobi was also singled out for repeatedly probing the inside left channel when Fulham attacked, with a low cross that almost released Gonzalo Garcia and another delivery that set up a chance for King.
A Difficult Start For Fulham
After five matches, Fulham sit 19th in the table on just two points, while Manchester United are 12th with five points. Fulham have shown signs of organisation in patches against stronger opposition, particularly in recent draws with Liverpool and United, though defensive lapses and an inability to see out matches have cost them points earlier in the season. New head coach Alvaro Arbeloa will use the upcoming international break to refine his approach, with three winnable-looking league fixtures offering the club its clearest chance yet to register that elusive first victory.
