Super Eagles midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro was in action once again on Sunday as Monza went down 3-2 to Lecce in an entertaining Serie A clash. It was Akinsanmiro’s third appearance of the season, and while he is yet to register an assist, he impressed before being replaced by Mout in the 83rd minute.
Lecce Race Into A Two-Goal Cushion
The visitors made a blistering start, going ahead inside three minutes when Lassana Coulibaly headed home Ivan Ilic’s whipped delivery. Lecce doubled their advantage in the 10th minute through Tiago Gabriel, who rose at the back post to nod in another Ilic cross.
Monza Respond But Fall Short
Monza pulled one back in the 20th minute when Ricardo Mangas converted a high-value chance from close range, only for Lecce to restore their two goal cushion almost immediately through a Coulibaly brace, finished this time with his right foot after a Danilo Veiga cross.
Monza continued to push for a way back into the contest and were rewarded late on when Exequiel Zeballos scored in the 89th minute, but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation as Lecce managed the closing stages to secure a 3-2 win.
