Super Falcons defender Oluwatosin Demehin has completed her move to Portuguese champions Benfica, signing a three-year contract following her departure from Turkish giants Galatasaray.
Demehin said the move gives her the chance to keep developing her game at the highest level. Speaking to Benfica’s in-house channel BTV, she described Benfica as the best club in Portugal and one of the best in the world, saying she believes being there will help her performance continue to improve.
Advice From A Teammate Who’s Been There
The 24 year old centre-back revealed she consulted Super Falcons teammate Christy Ucheibe, a former Benfica player, before making the move. She said she spoke with Ucheibe during a national team camp, and that her teammate had good things to say about the club, which helped inform her decision.
Asked to sum up her own qualities as a player, Demehin described herself as hardworking, disciplined and determined.
A Career Built Across Three Countries
Demehin began her senior career at Sunshine Queens before moving to Rivers Angels, where her performances for the Port Harcourt club earned her a move to Europe in 2022 with French side Stade de Reims. She joined Galatasaray in 2024, making 42 league appearances and scoring twice before this latest move to Portugal.
