The 2026/27 Nigeria National League season will get underway on Saturday, October 31.
The commencement date was ratified at the league’s Annual General Meeting, held in Owerri on Friday. Clubs competing in the new campaign have been divided into four conferences Southern Conference A and B, and Northern Conference A and B.
A Path To Automatic Promotion
The top team from each of the four conferences will secure automatic promotion to the NPFL at the end of the season. Those four promoted clubs will then compete in a mini tournament to determine the overall NNL champions for the campaign, adding an extra layer of competition on top of automatic promotion.
Following A Strong Group Of Graduates
The new season is expected to bring another intense battle for promotion, with clubs across the country aiming to earn a place in Nigeria’s top flight. Sporting Lagos, Inter Lagos, Doma United and Ranchers Bees all secured promotion to the NPFL at the end of the 2025/26 season, and will now test themselves in the top division, while this year’s NNL clubs look to follow the same path.
Further details on fixtures and other arrangements for the new season are expected to be communicated to participating clubs ahead of the October 31 kickoff.
