Shooting Stars Sports Club, popularly known as 3SC, will honour club legends on selected home matchdays once the 2026/2027 NPFL season kicks off next month, following a new partnership with the Pillar of Sports and Youth Development Foundation.

Club management has approved a proposal from the Foundation to institute a special recognition programme celebrating retired 3SC players who represented the Oluyole Warriors between 1980 and 1990, a period the club regards as central to its history and identity.

The initiative is championed by Foundation founder and chairman Temitope Ademola Obideyi, who described it as a personal effort to celebrate the figures who built the foundations of the club’s legacy, arguing that football legends deserve recognition while they are still alive to see it.

Under the programme, two former 3SC players will be specially invited to selected home fixtures each season, where they will be honoured during the half time break. Each recipient will receive a customised Shooting Stars home jersey, a cash award of ₦50,000, and a specially packaged appreciation gift from the Foundation.

Club executive chairman Taiwo Lekan Salami approved the initiative, describing it as a timely gesture that acknowledges the sacrifices of players who helped raise the profile of Shooting Stars, Oyo State, and Nigeria on both domestic and continental stages.

Obideyi said the approval reflects a shared commitment between the club and the Foundation to preserve football history and ensure the pioneers who built the club’s legacy are never forgotten, adding that the programme is also intended to inspire a new generation of players to emulate the dedication of the club’s golden era.
