Akor Adams is set to become a Venezia player after the newly promoted Serie A club completed the final stages of negotiations with Sevilla, according to transfer insider Gianluca Di Marzio.

Sevilla and Venezia have agreed a transfer package worth up to 23 million euros for the Nigerian forward, made up of a guaranteed 16 million euros plus a further 7 million in performance-related bonuses. The deal represents the biggest investment in Venezia’s history.

Adams is expected to arrive in Italy on Tuesday, stopping briefly in Venice before linking up with his new teammates at the club’s pre-season training camp in Falcade later in the week.

Venezia secured promotion back to Serie A and are already strengthening their squad for what is expected to be a season dominated by a fight against relegation, with Adams identified as the player tasked with leading that battle up front. The 1.90 metre striker arrives off the back of an impressive spell at Sevilla, where he scored 10 goals last season.

Beyond the immediate task of keeping Venezia up, the move also gives Adams a chance to measure himself against fellow Nigerian Victor Osimhen’s own debut season in Serie A, when Osimhen scored 10 league goals and added three assists in his first Italian campaign. A strong season in Venice could also help strengthen Adams’ case in Eric Chelle’s Super Eagles plans as Nigeria begins preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
