Defending champions Nigeria will begin their title defence at the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship with a blockbuster clash against perennial rivals Ghana, in a fixture that reruns the final of the previous edition.
The Group B opener is scheduled for Monday, July 27, at the Lycee Scientifique de Yamoussoukro in Cote d’Ivoire. The meeting is a repeat of the 2024 final, where the Flying Eagles beat Ghana’s Black Satellites 2-1 to lift the trophy.
Abdu Maikaba’s side will return to the same venue for their second group match against Togo on Thursday, July 30, before closing out the group stage against Burkina Faso on Sunday, August 2, also at the Lycee Scientifique de Yamoussoukro.
The tournament serves as the qualifying competition for the 2027 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations. The Flying Eagles are expected to depart Nigeria on Monday after completing several weeks of intensive preparations and screening exercises in Abuja.
