Former Super Eagles forward Mutiu Adepoju has criticised the recent off field decisions at Enyimba FC, arguing that the club’s management led by Chairman Nwankwo Kanu should be the ones to appoint key technical staff rather than the Abia State Government.
Adepoju expressed shock over the government’s unilateral appointment of a new Technical Adviser and Sporting Director, saying such decisions traditionally fall to the club hierarchy with governmental oversight, not direct intervention.
Earlier, Enyimba’s own management had named Deji Ayeni as replacement for departing coach Stanley Eguma and reinstated Uche Okechukwu as Sporting Director, but the Abia government installed Cameroon born Emmanuel Deutsch and Daniel Eke in those roles instead.
Adepoju declined to label the government’s action as political interference but called for clearer communication and teamwork between the state and club officials so Enyimba can progress without internal distractions.
