Sunday Megwo, the in-form forward for Abia Warriors, says he is confident of surpassing last season’s tally as he sets his sights on a 15-goal haul this campaign.
Megwo and Anthony Ijoma now plying his trade in Bosnia combined for 25 of Abia Warriors’ 43 league goals last season, a contribution that played a major role in securing a third-place finish and a ticket to the upcoming continental campaign.
Last season, Megwo scored 12 goals in the league, while Ijoma netted 13. As the current 2025/26 season reaches matchday 16, Megwo says he has already scored four goals. He told CompleteSports that barring injuries he believes he can exceed his previous output, setting a personal target of “at least 15 goals” this season.
Abia Warriors are currently sitting sixth on the NPFL log with 23 points from 15 matches. The club is preparing for a crucial home clash against Rivers United, who occupy third place with 26 points.
