Six Nigerian Youngsters Head to Russia for Football and Education with FDC Vista

In a major boost for grassroots football development, six highly promising Nigerian youngsters have left the country for Russia to join FDC Vista—one of Europe’s most structured youth academies where football excellence is blended with education.

The move, coordinated by renowned football agent and Delta State Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Sports, Mr. Paul Ojo Omamomo, marks another milestone in Nigeria’s growing record of nurturing and exporting football talent.

Omamomo, who also serves as African Coordinator for FDC Vista, confirmed that the players are beneficiaries of full scholarships combining elite football training with high-quality academic programmes.

The six players emerged from a rigorous nationwide scouting exercise last month that identified 20 top prospects across Nigeria’s football zones. The first batch of six has now made the journey to Russia, with others expected to follow in the coming weeks.

“This is not just about football  it’s about shaping disciplined, educated, and globally competitive athletes,” said Omamomo. “Our mission with FDC Vista is to create opportunities that go beyond the pitch, giving Nigerian youths a pathway to success both in sports and in life.”

Over the years, FDC Vista has gained global recognition for developing African players who have gone on to represent top clubs and national teams across Europe. The academy’s collaboration with Nigeria has already produced several standout talents, including Olakunle Olusegun (Krasnodar FC), Jonathan Okoronkwo (Hatayspor FC), Samson Tijani (Dukla Praha), and Sunusi Ibrahim (CF Montréal) among others.

The latest group of six prospects will follow in their footsteps, combining academic development with football education to prepare for professional careers at the highest level.

Omamomo described the initiative as a “new phase in Nigeria’s youth football evolution,” rooted in structure, opportunity, and the conviction that education and sport can coexist to create complete athletes.

“We’re not just sending footballers abroad,” he added. “We’re sending ambassadors of Nigerian talent and discipline.”

This initiative further strengthens Nigeria’s influence on global football as another generation of talented youngsters embarks on its journey to greatness.
