Super Eagles newcomer Akor Adams has declared his commitment to contributing all he can to the national side as Nigeria pursues qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
With two matches remaining in the qualifiers, the Super Eagles will face Lesotho away this Friday and then host Benin Republic in Uyo on Tuesday. After eight games, Nigeria sits third in Group with 11 points, trailing both Benin Republic and South Africa, who each have 14 points.
Adams, speaking from camp in Polokwane, said: โI just have to give what I can for the team in general, whoever is playing we give support and if youโre called upon by the coach you just do your best.โ He added: โThere are a couple of guys that Iโm in touch with and Iโm looking forward in making more relationship and also better friendship.โ
Prior to his callโup, Adams scored for Sevilla in their 4โ1 La Liga triumph over Barcelona at the weekend. Coach Eric Chelleโs squad are aiming for a second away victory in this group when they visit Lesotho, having recently beaten Rwanda 2โ0 in Kigali.
Earlier in the campaign, Lesotho held a starโstudded Nigeria to a 1โ1 draw in Uyo. The only loss the Super Eagles have suffered came against Benin Republic, who overturned a deficit to claim a 2โ1 win in Abidjan.

Editorial
We believe that Akor Adamsโ arrival injects fresh energy into a Super Eagles side under pressure. The pathway to the 2026 World Cup is narrow and littered with challenges; what matters now is collective effort, resilience and seizing every opportunity.
The situation is clear: Nigeria must win both remaining qualifiers and depend on favourable outcomes elsewhere to secure advancement. Thatโs a tall order, but not insurmountable. Adamsโ mindsetโoffering support regardless of role, forging strong bonds within the squad suggests the kind of unity this team needs.
It is not merely about individual brilliance but about the harmony and work ethic of the group. Coach Eric Chelle has assembled talent, yet navigating the psychological pressures of mustโwin matches away from home, then delivering on home soil, will test character.
We see in Adams both an asset and a symbol; someone who understands that sometimes the biggest contributions are made off the ball, in the dressing room, in lifting spirits and in helping teammates shine. Confidence must be matched by discipline, strategy by courage.
If Nigeria can harness that spiritโbelieving not just in individual players but in shared purposeโthen the dream of World Cup qualification remains alive. We are convinced that with unity, determination and every player doing what they can, success is within reach.
