FC Midtjylland have officially signed Nigerian forward Friday Ubi Etim on a deal running until the summer of 2029. The 23 year old, who has spent the past two seasons at Portuguese side CD Mafra, moves from their partner club as part of the club’s talent pathway initiative.
Etim, born in Lagos on 21 May 2002, began his European career in Vizela’s youth system, topping the Liga Revelação scoring charts before progressing into the senior side. He featured 21 times in Liga Portugal with Vizela, netting twice, before transferring to Mafra in mid‑2023 for an estimated fee of around €1 million.
At Mafra, he made 33 appearances and scored seven goals, impressing enough to trigger FC Midtjylland’s decision to exercise their option and bring him into the Superliga. The club appear set to nurture his talent further within their renowned development structure.
