Olamide Bolaji Receives Super Falcons Call-Up, Sparks Joy at Remo Stars

Celebrations erupted in Ikenne as Olamide Bolaji, a standout striker for Remo Stars Ladies, earned her first call-up to the Super Falcons ahead of their upcoming friendly double-header against Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses.

The excitement was palpable during the team’s Monday training session, where teammates and staff held a spontaneous celebration. Amid applause and chants of “Super Olamide!”, Bolaji was honoured in a heartfelt ceremony within the club’s dressing room.

“This is a dream come true, not just for me, but for the entire Remo Stars family,” Bolaji said, visibly emotional. “I’m proud to represent my club on the biggest stage, and I promise to give it my all.”

The Remo Stars Stadium, which will host one of the two friendlies on May 31, now gains deeper significance as Bolaji prepares to wear Nigeria’s iconic green and white on her home turf. The second match is set for June 3 at Abeokuta’s MKO Abiola Stadium.

Head coach Justine Madugu named Bolaji in a 23-woman squad that includes seasoned internationals such as Rasheedat Ajibade, Chiamaka Nnadozie, and Michelle Alozie. Her inclusion is seen as part of a larger strategy to infuse youthful talent into the team’s build up for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
